ANSWERS
Frequently Asked Questions
What is automotive tint film and how does it work?
Automotive tint film is a thin polyester film with a pressure-sensitive adhesive on one side. It's applied to the interior surface of your car's glass with a slip solution, then squeegeed flat and left to cure. Once cured, the adhesive bonds permanently to the glass.
Techni Tint's range uses a metallic or chrome coating that gives the film a mirror or coloured reflective finish — meaning the outside of the glass reflects light rather than just blocking it. That's what separates aesthetic film from standard dark tint.
What is reflective window tint and is it different from standard tint?
Yes, standard window tint is a dyed or carbon film that reduces light by absorbing it. Reflective window tint has a metallic coating that bounces light back, which is what creates the mirror or chrome appearance on the outside of the glass.
Techni Tint films are all reflective. The coloured versions (green, blue, gold, purple) shift depending on the angle and the light conditions, which is what makes them popular on show cars and drift builds.
Do you sell a window tint kit with tools included
Techni Tint sells film by the metre rather than pre-packaged kits. You cut the film to the shape of your specific glass, which gives a better result than a pre-cut kit that may not match your car exactly.
For tools, you only need a spray bottle with slip solution (water and a couple of drops of baby shampoo), a hard card squeegee, and a sharp snap-off blade. Most people have these already, or they're available from any auto accessories or hardware store.
How long does window tint installation take?
A full car including all side windows and the rear window typically takes around 2 to 4 hours for a first time DIYer working carefully. Take your time, work methodically, and do not rush the more challenging windows.
The windscreen takes a little more time due to its larger size and curved shape. For a Silver Gradient windscreen strip only, allow around 30 to 45 minutes.
Our tip: Start with the flattest, easiest windows first. This gives you a chance to get comfortable with the film, tools and technique before moving on to the more curved or challenging windows.
How much film do I need for my car?
It depends on your car's body style and which windows you're doing. The measurement guide gives you the metreage per window type so you can work it out exactly before ordering. Better to order slightly more than you think you need — off-cuts are inevitable on curved glass and you want a spare if a panel needs redoing.
Do your films block heat and UV?
Yes. Depending on the film selected, Techni Tint films can significantly reduce heat and glare while blocking up to 99% of harmful UV rays, helping improve comfort and protect your vehicle's interior.
